American born cellist Sean Fischer serves as a performer, teacher, and student to the greater Los Angeles area.

Recent success includes a first place finish in the San Diego Chamber Music Competition with the Royce String Quartet. He also appeared with the Rio Hondo Symphony in May 2012, and won first prize in the American Protege International Competition and the American Fine Arts Festival Golden Strings Competition. Fischer made his Carnegie Hall debut in January 2012.

Serving as section cellist to the American Youth Symphony Orchestra for the last three years, Sean Fischer has also performed with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and the Debut Symphony Orchestra. Last winter, he traveled with Debut on a national tour to China, performing eight concerts in six major cities over a two week period, including a nationally televised New Years' Eve Performance in Chengdu. This summer, Sean will be serving as section cellist in the American Institute of Musical Studies' Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria. He has performed under many distinguished conductors, including Carl St. Clair, James Conlon, Alexander Treger, Michael Stern, Lucas Richman, Christophe Campestrini, Pascal Verrot, and Perry So.

Currently in his first year of graduate studies with Antonio Lysy and Lynn Harrell at the Herb Alpert School of Music at UCLA, Sean Fischer completed his bachelor's degree at the Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach in 2011, majoring in cello performance and music education, and studying with Los Angeleles Philharmonic cellist David Garrett. Serving as principal cellist of the university's symphony orchestra, and cellist of the conservatory string quartet, he also received public recognition for Outstanding Commitment to the Strings Department his junior year. During the summer in 2012, Fischer trained at the Round Top Music Festival in Texas, where he served as principal cellist to the Festival Hill Orchestra, performed the US premiere of Christophe Looten's "Laudes" for String Quartet with faculty violinists Jonathan Swartz and Curtis Macomber, and studied with Emilio Colon, Jesus Castro-Balbi, and Adrien Zitoun. He has participated in master classes with Johannes Moser, Fred Sherry, Arnold Steinhardt, and members of the Ysaye Quartet, among others.

Passionate about all genres of music, Sean Fischer has recorded and frequently collaborates with Roadrunner Records rock artist Young the Giant. Featured on their hit single "Cough Syrup," he can be heard playing on several other tracks from their self-titled album. Fischer has also been a featured musician at their concerts, most recently performing two concerts at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.

Sean Fischer actively teaches in the Southern California area. Currently the cello instructor at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, he also teaches at Jim's Music in Tustin, and maintains a small private studio of students in Orange County. Sean served as cello instructor for the Wildwood Music Festival in 2011.
